Last year around this same time we shared 10 of the most amazing entries from the World Beard and Moustache Championships 2014. While those remain some seriously impressive beards, the recent 2015 competition took things to the next level.
The World Beard and Moustache Championships is held annually, or every other year and never in the same location. This year it was held in the town of Leogang tucked away in the Austrian mountains. Over 300 bearded men from 20 countries around the world traveled to the small alpine town to show off their facial hair and mingle with equally awesome bearded folk. They all had one thing on their mind: facial hair, and who has the best of it.
There are 18 different categories that contestants compete in across three divisions: Mustaches, Partial Beards and Full Beards. In each division there are different categories such as best stubble or best goatee. There are prizes awarded to the top 3 contestants from each category.
Thanks to Austrian photojournalist Jan Heitfleisch we have countless photos from the event, documenting the winners and those that didn’t place but still have brag-worthy beards. Does your beard have what it takes to compete in next year’s competition? If so visit the official website for more information by clicking here.
Over 300 bearded and mustachioed men from 20 different countries traveled to Austria for the 2015 World Beard And Moustache Championships
The men competed in three different categories: mustache, partial beard and full beard
Awards were granted for best goatee, best stubble and best fashion beard, as well as 15 other unique divisions within each of the three categories.
The competition is held annually or every other year, but always in a different country. Norway hosted the competition in 2011 and it was off to Alaska in 2009.
One thing is for certain, judging the steep competition can get a little hairy! 😉
