Mom Tries To Teach Baby to Say ‘Mama’ But Dog Says It First

One of the first things most parents try to teach their babies to say is “mama,” or “dada,” as the case may be. When one Utah mom tried to teach her young son to say mama by offering him a tasty treat, the little one was upstaged – by a dog.

Patch, a miniature Australian shepherd, is quite the talented canine. It seems he learns just as well as any human! Instead of the boy saying “mama,” it was the highly intelligent pooch.

In the adorable video taken by Sam Giovanini, the little boy clearly gets frustrated that Patch is getting all of mom’s attention. He seems to try to get his dog to pipe down so he can give it a shot.

Apparently, Patch not only speaks, he’s a very talented care dog. When the little boy’s grandmother was in a car accident and suffered a brain injury, it’s was Patch that helped her recover. He’s also able to alert the family to any seizures she might have as a result of her injuries.

Perhaps it’s not all that surprising as Australian shepherds are well known as one of the world’s smartest dogs – they excel at obedience, agility, flying disc competitions and more. But who knew they could even talk too?
