Looking at her collection of pictures you might think she’s a professional that’s been at it for years, but think again.
She didn’t even realize she had a passion for photography until a couple of years ago, back in 2012.
The revolution occurred after she purchased her first camera in hopes of documenting her sons as they age.
She has since fallen in love with the magic of photography and has upgraded to a Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a 135mm lens.
Each photo she displays is unique even though every photo features the same collection of models:
Shumilova’s 2 sons and their pet rabbits, dogs, cats, and cattle. Living on a rural farm gives Shumilova a variety of incredible backgrounds to photograph her children in.
Playing near the lake, strolling through the cattle, or racing down a long dirt path—and in the direction of a rainbow, seriously how perfect is that!?
The real magic of Shumilova’s photography can be seen in her ability to capture raw beauty no matter what season.
In fact, on her official website she has her work broken down into the four seasons, fall, summer, spring, and winter. The family’s farm feels the full impact of the changing seasons.
As the months roll by the landscape morphs from a snowy wonderland to a blooming forest and everything in between. Shumilova loves to capture just the right image using natural lighting, no matter if she is indoors or outdoors.
Shumilova uses her photographs to capture something she feels but can’t express with words; one look at her photos and it’s easy to more clearly understand what she means.
So many emotions and memories surround each photo, captivating you into another world entirely.
These photos don’t appear to be taken by someone with little photography experience, even the way the backgrounds fade away just right, highlighting the main image, it’s all just right.
Shumilova feels there are no words to express the feeling that overtakes her, inspiring her to take photographs.
She is undoubtedly full of natural talent, plus she’s got some adorable models she’s working with. Free spirited and handsome little dudes who seem to pose effortlessly for the camera.
They must get it from mom, who also looks great in front of the camera too.
Images of the boys sitting together, the sun warm on their backs, the lake at their feet makes you think of an ideal childhood, where kids play freely out on the farm, a string of cute and loyal animals at their side.
And so while these images make you feel happy, it’s interesting to point out you won’t see much smiling.
Maybe it’s because these photos are so candid but the boys usually appear lost in thought, apparently too busy playing with their bunnies or running through open fields to smile.
Shumilova takes photos everyday and processes the images herself at night.
She posts some of her collection onto sites like Flickr and 500px, where she has steadily been gaining a very large following.
Then just this year her collection went viral.
People all over the world can’t get enough of the beautiful images snapped around her sprawling Russian farm, prompting millions of people to view her images.
Shumilova never imagined all of this—
then again, when you follow your heart and take on your passions amazing things are known to happen!
