You’ve probably already at least gotten a glimpse of Iceland’s incredible beauty in photos, if you haven’t been fortunate enough to visit in person, but photographer Henry Jun Wah Lee reveals in images its especially impressive sunset hues and magnificent landscapes through his fantastic 4K timelapse of Iceland video.
The artist was able to impressively demonstrate the country’s striking natural beauty in less than 5 minutes. Lee explains, “During this time, viewers will feel as though they’re there standing amidst Iceland’s most magical scenery and ideal climates. “The light during midnight sun is a surreal and unforgettable experience. Hues of pinks, purples, reds and oranges that you may be lucky to see for a few minutes during a normal sunrise/sunset can explode for hours in an epic display of nature’s masterful artistry.”
While the video may appear effortlessly beautiful, the photographer says that he did encounter some difficulties during his creative process, noting, “Shot over two weeks from late June through early July in Iceland, finding the best spots to experience these conditions was not easy. We had to navigate Iceland’s fickle weather. The southern half of the island was storming most of the time. Knowledge of the island’s various micro climates and scenic locations were important in figuring out where to go for any given night. So was staying mobile and keeping all options open. Each day was a new and unexpected adventure.”
To sum up his memorable and artistic trip, Lee poetically states, “In the end, the odyssey is about the journey and its experiences rather than about the destination.”
