Best friends don’t have to look anything alike to make a great team, just as these unusual animal friendships prove. You might have a dog and a cat that get along, but most of our readers don’t have a pet elephant for their dog to hang out with. If you did though, you just might find dogs and elephants make awesome friends.
A while back we wrote a post about 15 unusual animal friendships, the post was so popular we decided to write another post featuring even more unusual and heartwarming animal friendships. The animal kingdom never ceases to amaze and inspire, enjoy these wondrous pals that put aside all differences to spread some love.
1. Tinni the Dog and Sniffer the wild fox
Tinni is a domestic dog and Sniffer is a wild fox. Despite their vastly different lifestyles the two make time to meet up in the forest, hang out, and just do what friends do, enjoy one another’s company.
2. Buck and Duck
Recently, locals were taken by surprise when an adorable mother goose living at a Buffalo, NY cemetery got the best bodyguard ever. For weeks this beautiful deer stood watch over the goose and her nest. Usually male and female geese work as a team guarding their eggs, but this mother goose was without her mate for some reason.
Thanks to this loyal deer her and her eggs remained well protected. Even after the geese hatched the deer remained, chasing off any predators, such as crows, that feast on innocent baby birds.

These two adorable opposites grew up together at the Cincinnati Zoo. They are a part of the Cat Ambassador Program, which works to teach farmers living in Namibia and South Africa how to train dogs to protect livestock as opposed to shooting the gorgeous cats. Both Alexa and Sahara are 10-years old and remain the best of friends.

Rats and other vermin often hunt baby ducks, but thanks to this kitten one baby duck doesn’t have anything to worry about.
16. Frog and mouse
In 2006, a photographer snapped this image of a mouse escaping the dangers of the rising monsoon floodwaters by hitching a ride on the back of her frog friend.
17. Cat and fox
If you have cats you might be concerned a wild fox will come along and make a meal of your furry friend. Perhaps not, apparently this cat and fox make the best of friends.
18. Shere Khan, Baloo, and Leo
A lion, a tiger, and a bear, and all are best friends!
